A slipper-fied Xero experience

January 12, 2024I've had the Pagosas for less than a week and they're fantastic. The main reason I decided to get them was because my house slippers were starting to feel restrictive after I started wearing barefoot shoes, and they've met or exceeded every expectation I had. They have somewhat of a looser fit than I expected, but that's a good thing. Comfort and convenience appear to be the priority over a foot-conforming barefoot experience. Don't let that fool you, though - you still get plenty of natural motion with a familiar sense of comfort you'd get from a more conventional slipper. The shoe feels true to size and it clings to my ankle and upper foot extremely well while leaving a lot of room for the rest of my foot.
The faux wool material works quite well, I've found. In a fairly cold house I can wear these with thin socks or no socks and my feet don't feel cold, although your results may differ if you tend to have cold feet. You won't get the same sensations as you might from a fuzzier slipper, but that's something you could add with the right socks or some kind of additional lining. Still, the interior has a nice feel to it if you wear them sockless.
I primarily use them as a full shoe, and I use the collapsible heel when I just need to quickly get around without wanting to be barefoot or before changing into another shoe. Because the heel is collapsible, they're quite difficult to get on fully without using your hands, unlike the Aptos.
If I had one complaint, it's that the upper picks up fur pretty easily. This is not a big deal, as I find it rubs off just as easily. Just be forewarned if you have critters running around your home!
They are nice but…

March 14, 2024I don’t feel they are worth $90… why:
-They are absolutely flat: there is no form nor ergonomics to these shoes, so don’t expect to stand in them for long periods. If you do you’ll wear out the insole.
-The included insole is not very comfortable in that it feels like canvas sewn to foam. However is seems like it will handled a handwashing or two, if you planned on wearing them sockless. I thankfully bought a replacement pair at the time of purchase cause using these occasionally over the last 10days around the house with my newborn I’ve already noticed break-in but with ~3mm of thickness you’ll be breaking in the minimal sole cushioning soon after. I’ll be ordering whichever looks the most soft of comfortable replacement soon.
-The fit is slightly short. Anything more than cycling socks and I’m maxing out the length and toebox. This has me wearing them as slides versus my preferred shoe… I however will not return as the sizing suggests if I size up they will be floppy clothe boats again as I’d prefer sockless or cycling socked fitment.
However the overall build quality is nice. I expect them to last. And I can’t complain about how feather-weight they feel.

December 13, 2024I love my new Xero Shoes. I lucked into my first pair of Prio in the clearance section of REI Cincinnati last spring. They were recommended by my tai chi instructor. I used Feiyue for a year (appropriate and inexpensive, used just for class). Until I scored the REI pair and instantly fell in love.
Fast forward. I purchased my second pair of Prio for home practice and felt guilty for wearing them around the house regularly. So, I saw the Pagosa. I hate slippers!! But, I knew I had to check these out because the Prios have a very natural feel and I want to keep them for tai chi. The Pagosa's are an everyday wear inside the house shoe. I love them!! I tried to order a pair in early November for my wife. Still waiting for the availability notification.
Prio sole pattern is great for my tai chi, foot bed is rooting and grounding. Pagosa sole pattern is more grippy and suitable for daily house wear, footbed is rooting and grounding.
Looking to explore a pair a pair of Xero Boots for Spring.
Great Shoes!!
Not ideal for Canadian customers

February 23, 2024I have purchased a total of 4 different shoes from Xero the past 3 years. I would say the product is great I love them all and would love to own more. Unfortunately the shipping, duty and exchange of getting them back and forth is getting to be too much being in Canada. I have dealt with a return and an exchange due to sizing issues. Xero support has been great even giving me store credit on one pair of boots when I was not eligible. The problem is I have to pay for the shipping which is 20-30$ CAD each time and then the new pair is about $20 CAD duty when they come. Then the exchange from USD to CAD each time really start to add up. My first pair was a size 10 "fit true to size" I bought 2 more pairs that were also size 10 "fit true to size" one fit and one didn't. Then buying another pair later I was unsure what size to get. I went with 10 "for true to size" then those had to be exchanged. So now I am out over $100 CAD just with shipping and duty of exchange/returns for the 2 pairs that didn't fit. I would love to order more shoes but don't feel confident in the sizing and now know that it is costly to exchange so don't want to take the chance. Overall great product just wish it had a better setup for Canadian customers.
