Are not water resistant for long
Brian· Review provided by truewerktools.com · April 22, 2024
I bought a pair of the T2 work pants about 2 years ago now. The day they came in I was excited to to try them out. I immediately went to the sink and turned the faucet on fairly low. Holding the pants at about a 45 degree angle to the stream of water, it beaded and repelled nicely. So next, I held the pants perpendicular to the stream of water and after just a second or two I could already see that some of the water drops were sticking to the fabric. The water didn't necessarily soak in right away but this made me weary. I decided to wear them to work (Concrete driver) anyway and test them out as I really liked everything else about the pants. They're soft, breathable, stretch nicely, and have good useable pockets. As a concrete driver it is natural to get some concrete splashed on your clothes during the pours. Well I did indeed end up with some concrete splatter on my pants after my first job, and just seconds after I grabbed the hose and sprayed them off with gentle water pressure. While about 80% of the water beaded and rolled off there were already spots on the pants that instantly soaked up the water. After the third day of light use not one spot on the legs of the pants were even close to water resistant. Even when spraying the water at almost a parallel angle to my leg, the pants instantly soaked up everything. I eventually gave up on them being water resistant and just used them as a regular pair of work pants. I will say that even when they are soaked they do dry very fast. But a big reason I decided to spend $90 dollars on these pants in the first place was due to the fact that they are advertised as water resistant. "The DWR treatment on the T2s will keep you dry in all but the heaviest downpours." Not even close. I have tried restoring the DWR coating with the proper nikwax products and following the directions to a T, but nothing has worked. They continue to be a great regular work pant, and actually hold up to abrasion very well. From my experience, these are definitely not water resistant however. If Truewerk can figure out a way to make the DWR coating last longer than three days, then these pants might be worth it. Until then, I'm not quite sure they are worth the price tag and definitely shouldn't be advertised as a working mans water resistant pant.
1 year Opinion

Review from a multi Tradesman (General Contractor 30+ years) Specializing in Healthcare/Commercial Construction. Been wearing T2 Werkpants for a couple years now and I think it’s a fair time to give my personal opinions. I gravitate back and forth with another brand pant (Red Cap) the reason for is T2 werkpants are double the price and I don’t mind damaging the cheaper pairs of pants while I’m performing jobs that can permanently damage clothing Painting / Welding / etc. I always seem to have to completely cover up when I have unexpectedly work to be done . I usually only wear the T2 pants when only doing light duty work or even meetings. The T2 pants seem to be high quality as far as material / stitching / pocket locations . The Material is warmer and water repellent to a certain point so that make for comfort in light weather. Fabric makes some noise to get used to as you walk this is simply from the type of material they are made from. The front main zipper seems to want to come down quite a bit so I’m always seem to be checking that since I work around a lot of people through the day . Since I have been wearing T2 werkpant I am also very comfortable wearing them with a regular pair of shoes instead of work boots on a regular day out with family or any regular day event . I also recommend to make your purchases during there sale events this will save you a few bucks , since last year pants have went up a few dollars even with the sale . Overall the T2 werkpant are a thumbs up with just a couple hiccups. FYI I will still rotate between Red Cap and Truewerk pants for these reasons .
Finally something for the greenhouse and the field

I work in the nursery industry growing plants for restoration in Colorado. My days include scorching summers, windy winters, wet and humid greenhouses, dry rocky field work, and lots of time on my knees. So I am always looking for that delicate balance between tough yet breathable. Protected yet fast drying.
I have absolutely ravaged work pants from Khul, Columbia, Levi, and piles of other common brands. The T2s though have proven to be marvelous every day wear. Flexible, sturdy, moisture wicking, but wind resistant. The pocket placement is excactly what I am always looking for. I have reinforced pockets for knives, pruners, transplanting tools. During field work I can keep logbooks, snips, collection packets, gloves, and my mag lenses right on hand and accessible and organized without being loose piles in one pocket!
So far these pants have been worn during 18F-85F weather, building a covered awning frame, constructing greenhouse benches, daily nursery tasks like watering, soil mixing, etc. ; field work scrambling and crawling around rocky escarpments in full sun and wind exposure, Decent hiking distances, and more.
I think that I have finally settled on the kind of work wear that I need in this highly variable environment.
A negative review?!

I'm gonna be honest I really wanted to be surprised by the pants and blown away. Which may have been the first mistake in setting too high an expectation given all the praise and hype surrounding these pants. For a 30yr. construction veteran probably means something different than to the average weekend warrior or college grad turned youtube craftsman.
With that being said, I picked up a pair to evaluate for myself. I think the vision and mission is great but the reality of the product needs to be geared for the user in a way that says, yes! this is made for me, by someone who gets what I need and value when spending the money I made wearing them. That's what's missing for me as an industrial/commercial tradesperson. Just like buying power tools, when I do it's not flo-green ones for the big box, it's the ones that work and won't break when being used the way they really get used. There's a grey area between use and abuse and the best work products in my opinion take it and are comfortable in the hand the whole way as if they like it. That's just me and my view as a someone who constucts things from nothing with dirt, concrete, steel, wood. But there's people who think Festool is greatest and I don't so it's a matter of expectations and taste and mine is that these just aren't geared toward outside structure work and probably best suited to the shop or interior trades and admin folks despite their claims to workwear.
